The A+P Weekly Digital Digest - w/c 1st November

We’re back with all the digital marketing news you need to know this week. In a week where all eyes have been on Facebook as its corporate name changes to Meta, there’s lots of lovely newness coming from Instagram with links now available to all accounts, new live stream shopping events over the holidays, and the brand new ‘Add Yours’ Sticker. Twitter is helping its super users monetise with the addition of ‘Super Followers’ and LinkedIn is looking to adapt to changing ways of working with a new Service Marketplace. Get all the details below!

Instagram Makes Links in Stories Available to All Accounts

Instagram has announced that links are now being made available in Instagram Stories for all users, not just those with 10k followers or verified accounts.

“When we first introduced Stories links, the feature was limited to verified accounts or those with a certain number of followers. We’ve heard from the rest of our community that they also want to share things that matter with their friends and family. Whatever you’re into, from cooking to volunteering or shopping, you now have a space to share in Stories - regardless of your account size.” - Instagram

How to Add Links to Your Instagram Stories

Use the Link sticker to add a link to your Instagram story. When people tap on the sticker, they’ll be redirected. To add a Link sticker:

  1. Capture or upload content to your story
  2. Select the sticker tool from the top navigation bar
  3. Tap the “Link” sticker to add your desired link and tap “Done”
  4. Place the sticker on your story — like our other stickers — and tap on the sticker to see color variations

Twitter opens up Super Followers Feature

Twitter has opened up its new ‘Super Follow’ option to all users on iOS, which will provide more monetization potential for creators, expanding the capacity for them to draw direct income from their biggest fans. Super Follows enables Twitter users with more than 10k followers to set a monthly subscription fee (up to $9.99) to monetize additional, exclusive content for their most engaged followers in the app. Learn about the new feature here

LinkedIn Launches New Freelancer Connection Tools

After picking up 2 million users in a small US beta, LinkedIn is now rolling out its freelance services marketplace globally. The launch of this platform comes alongside other key updates from LinkedIn to support job-hunting in the gig economy and help the platform adapt to new current trends in the job market and how we work. It’s now available to all users globally: to set up a freelancer profile, you go to your own profile page, find the button near the top and follow the script to set it up and flag what you might be interested in working on. Instagram launches live-stream shopping events and free shipping

Holidays are coming and Instagram is going to host a number of shopping-based broadcasts over the last two months of the year, including weekly interactive live streams, starting this week.

“On Fridays in November, (November 5, 12, 19) lookout for the #BuyBlack Live Shopping series to discover brands from talented Black creators. From December 5 – 15, we’re hosting a Holiday Pop-Up Shop LIVE series. Picture the magic and charm of a holiday market, but from the comfort of your couch.” - Instagram

A new feature, Gift Guides will also be accessible by tapping “Holiday Picks'' on the Shop tab in the app. This feature will highlight gift ideas by price range and share new tips from the Instagram Shop team on key seasonal trends and recommendations. Instagram will help retailers maximise their holiday sales by offering 20% off a users’ first purchase in the app, as well as free shipping on eligible purchases. Instagram Launches 'Add Yours' Sticker

Instagram has announced the addition of an 'Add Yours' sticker for stories that allows users to ask others to respond to their Stories and create public threads no doubt inspired by TikTok’s Duet feature. When users add the 'Add Yours' sticker, say with the prompt “OOTD" (outfit of the day), viewers can reply to the story with their own image. This new, interactive sticker is great for creating viral chains of content on stories – making it a huge opportunity for driving community engagement - give it a go and let us know how you get on.
